Kerrie Rushton, founder of Groundwork Communications, which specializes in public policy advocacy and corporate and political communications, writing, and research. She has assisted a number of KSC clients in writing speeches, op-eds, and other executive communications materials.
Rushton has worked for and with presidential, Senate, House and gubernatorial campaigns; large financial institutions and fintech startups; major media firms and sports leagues; and leading trade associations, think tanks and nonprofits. She has crafted major speeches for governors, members of Congress, trade association and corporate CEOs, and television personalities. Among the Beltway notables Rushton has worked with: top executives from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Property Casualty Insurance Association of America; then-Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell; current U.S. Rep. Susan Brooks (R-Ind.); and former U.S. Labor Secretary and U.S. Trade Representative Bill Brock.
Before launching her own firm, Rushton served as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the White House Office of Strategic Initiatives (OSI). The office, referred to as the internal White House think tank, managed the planning, research, and message development for key White House policy initiatives. While in OSI, Rushton worked on immigration reform, trade, health care, and energy policy.
Rushton is a graduate of the University of Dallas and a native of Wahoo, Nebraska. She lives in Bethesda, Md. where she is an active parent volunteer for her daughter’s school and swim team.
